As a full-fledged convert to Google Talk, I think that Lifehacker has posted a tip worth sharing.

It’s a very simple process: just create a new bookmark with this Google Talk url, then tick the option in the bookmark’s properties to “Load this bookmark in the sidebar”. Arguably much better than it’s desktop counterpart, this is a simple but handy way to incorporate the Google Talk gadget into your browser’s sidebar.

Because I’ve been working a lot of overtime lately, I think I deserve a new toy. This week I finally went and picked up a Slingbox - something I’ve had my eye on for quite a while.

Slingbox

If you’re unfamiliar with what exactly a Slingbox is, allow me to quote from their site -

“The Slingbox enables you to watch your TV programming from wherever you are by turning virtually any Internet-connected PC into your personal TV. Whether you’re in another room or in another country, you’ll always have access to your television.”

Now that you realize how cool they are, go get one.

This is one of the more ridiculous things that I have ever seen. What about pickles is there to be afraid of?

MacbookAfter a few years of great service, I’ve decided that it’s time for my Powerbook to be replaced. I’d been holding off on getting one of the new Macbooks, but after playing with one, I decided it was time to place an order.

Apple sent notice today that my order had finally shipped. It’s a bit silly how excited I am for it to arrive.

I’ve told myself a few times that it was an upgrade out of necessity, but, I can’t say that that is completely true. My trusty Powerbook can still do just about everything I need it to do. Oh well, sometimes you just need treat yourself to something you want. But, at some point I do hope to have my techno-lust under control.

Oscar the GrouchElmoWould you ever get a tattoo of Sesame Street characters? Well, one of the guys working at the local Wal-Mart did - he has both Elmo and Oscar the Grouch on his forearm.

I find it fairly disturbing that a grown man feels so strongly about Sesame Street characters that he permanently adds pictures of them to his body. Am I that out of touch with the world?

Nintendo DS LiteIs it just me, or does the Nintendo DS Lite look like what might happen if an iPod were to mate with the original DS?

I wandered over to the mall earlier this week and picked up the Nintendo DS Lite that I had preordered a month or so ago. The original DS was great, but the lack of games ultimately led me to get rid of it. However, once Mariokart DS, New Super Mario Bros., and the DS Lite were all available, the trifecta was complete, and I had no choice but to get back into the Nintendo handheld gaming world.

We’ve once again reached the point of the year when most shows have gone on hiatus, and the choices on TV have become pretty pathetic.

During the regular season, there’s something decent on just about every night of the week. Mondays are for 24, Tuesdays are for House, Wednesdays have Lost, Thursdays have The Office, and Fridays have Battlestar Galactica. I’ve gone overboard - you get the picture.

So, in this time of need, I’m looking to you - you have an assignment. I know there has to be something out there on the summer TV schedule that is worth my Tivo’s time. What do I need to add to my season pass list?

So it’s come down to this, eh? A year between posts? It appears so.

You may have (or probably haven’t) noticed that the site is a bit different these days. Zach (who is kind enough to host me) recently switched servers, and I took the opportunity to spruce things up a bit. I’ve hidden the old content, and am going to start again from scratch. I want to try to liven this place up again and get back into this routine.

So, if any of you need to (again, not likely), update your RSS subcription, and stay tuned.
